Junior Service League of Brooksville is a sisterhood who bridges the gap for our underserved neighbors by executing passionate acts of service and enhancing projects through financial community partners.
Junior Service League of Brooksville (JSL) is a non-profit volunteer organization that has a wonderful 80+ year tradition of serving the residents of Hernando County. We have several committees geared towards specific needs like women's services and children's services, but we, also, have committees that focus on more broad community needs. We also partner with other non-profits and social service organizations assisting them through service hours and financial means.
Food for Families
JSL works in conjunction with Hernando County School Board's Students and Families in Transition program to provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks for the homeless and transient student population. We pack bags for students to take home prior to their winter and spring breaks. During each break, we provide food for 150-200 students.
Each Spring, two local high school senior girls are nominated by their guidance counselors. Often, the young ladies who are nominated shine even through difficult situations, to be our “Cinderella” for her senior prom. We partner with Patricia's Boutique who provides our Cinderella's with their gown, accessories, and shoes. We also partner with local hairstylists and nail technicians to ensure our Cinderella will be the belle of the ball for her once in a lifetime senior prom night!
Throughout its history, JSL has contributed services and funding to supporting the development and beautification of our community. One of our most recent projects was a donation to Brooksville City Parks & Recreation to help fund the addition of new playground equipment. The NEOs interactive playground helps to build children's agility, coordination, strength, stamina, and is fully ADA accessible.
